How Long The Process Will Take?
This will depend on a number of factors as to how long it will take from the offer having been accepted and the time that you will actually move into your new home. The average time that a conveyancing transaction takes to complete is around 8 to 12 weeks.
The average time scales may vary depending on factors such as if there is a chain of transactions. The purchase can for example be completed within 6 weeks in case of a first-time buyer having a mortgage all in place, as in this case there is no sale behind the purchase.
However, in case of a purchase of a leasehold property requiring an extension of the remaining term of the lease, the transaction may take significantly longer and typically between 3 and 6 months. It is also to be borne in mind that there are additional charges applicable to complete a leasehold transaction, detail of which will be supplied at the outset.
